CHICAGO: The Windy City
For a long time, people have been told that the Windy City earned its name, not for the wonderful breezes off of Lake Michigan, but for our politicians’ habit of bragging during our bid to win the 1893 Columbian Exposition. The New Yorkers, who also competed, felt Chicagoans were full of hot air. Maybe. The truth, however, is Chicago was chronicled as the “city of winds” years before the bragging claim came to light. However, that doesn’t mean Chicagoans don’t have the right to brag.

Chicago is a cultural mecca. The arts, restaurants, museums, theaters, industry, banking, mixed with our friendly Midwest disposition makes Chicago a city for the masses. Cultures from all over the world are celebrated here in parades, fairs, and entire neighborhoods where people have made Chicago their home. ChickChat celebrates all that is Chicago in the diverse events it plans and in our efforts to create opportunities for locals to have their voices heard by the marketing and advertising decision-makers that are shaping our environmental, retail, and intellectual landscape .
